St. Anne with the Christ Child and the Young Virgin Mary

Anne displaces Mary as the one holding the Christ Child, who in turn holds the mappa mundi seen so often in Madonna and Child images. Meanwhile a diminutive Mary offers fruit in a basket. Her displacement to the lower section of the image is quite a departure from the traditional Anna Selbdritt, in which Mary holds Jesus and is held in turn by her mother.

The inscription at the bottom means "Holy Mother Anne, pray for us."
